[Once they haul themselves out of the puddle, Tuuri focuses on wringing the excess water out of her sweater as they walk, trying to rub her arms with her hands to warm up a little. She doesn't worry too much about making conversation as she does it, at least not until Emil speaks up.]

...Yeah, this is extremely weird. [She looks up into the sky, so much further away from them than normal, the blades of grass as tall as they are on either side.] I don't understand why any of this is happening. But... at least we're not the only ones who notice it. I think it would be a lot worse if everyone in town thought it was normal, instead of just most people.

[and then, with a little more cheer, a little forcefully]

It's kind of exciting this way! Like a secret club.

[ Yeah, some secret club. Oh well, he's not here to rain on her parade. ]

Yeah... But I don't know, how can anyone think this is normal?

[ He purses his mouth together because his customers get annoyed having to wait for him to come massage them but they also take ages to get up onto the table. And every morning he basically squeezes himself a drop of massage oil and keeps referring to it (with gloved hands each time of course) until it's all gone. No one's even noticed! ]

...Yeah. I mean, I think that myself, but... I cut limes all the time at work, to add to drinks. And until last week, it never even occurred to me how creepy it is that they smile and dance around before I do it. So... I don't know how I thought any of that was normal either. But I did.

[Which isn't to say it doesn't worry her-- it does, a lot. This selective awareness is terrifying because it's so impossible to comprehend. What can they even do about it? Besides talk to the people who do understand, and try to figure out why.]

...I don't know. I hope not.

[Man, Yato's cool guy routine is EVEN COOLER now that he's totally blaze about it. It was nothing, like he leaps into the sky to cut down bugs every day, what!] It was so cool. [she repeats, to really emphasize it.] I guess I'm super lucky you did kendo, because otherwise I would probably be a goner. I really owe you one.

[not that she's even... allergic to wasps, it just would have sucked a lot.]

Oh, I just got it at a toy store! I asked the store attendants if they could get it for me and they didn't even bat an eye. I'm going to tell you the truth, I don't have a license, so... sorry. [Suddenly the car pitching into a crack in the sidewalk makes more sense, huh.]

Yato stares off to the side, the better to hide the totally uncool look of bliss on his face. Finally, someone else who appreciates his talents... It gives him life.

He's so absorbed in replaying ten seconds ago over and over in his head that he barely manages to hear the rest of what she's saying. But he does manage, and he waves a hand like psshaw. ]

That's okay. I don't have one either! What's in a license, anyway? Proof you can drive within the lines? Well, there are no more lines in this society!

[ Whoo! Yeah! Anarchy! ]

And you know what never even needed a license in the first place? [ He snaps his fingers and points at Tuuri. ] Drone piloting.

That's a good point. [Is it, though... she's actually seriously considering this.] Yeah! We have to do what we can to get through this, and licenses aren't a part of that! Having a license would probably be less helpful in this situation!

[There's absolutely no reason to think that at all, but she's on a roll here. Besides, Yato just brought up something incredibly important, something that hadn't even crossed her mind when she picked up this RC car in the toy store.]

Yato... Do you think someone would be able to balance on top of a drone? [This is a disaster.]

[And with that tiny word 'trust,' her confidence yoyos back up. He trusts her to do it. There's no one else he trusts to do it. The fact that she is the only person in the immediate area with the wheels to get him where he needs to go doesn't occur to her in the glow of how great she is.]

Well, alright, if you're sure! [she says, shooting for humble.] Besides, the sooner the police get these pictures, the better, right? I'm guessing they're somehow to blame for everything being tiny, too-- the only people who have noticed that something is wrong are the ones who have access to the Retrospec app.

There's no proof, but I think that's the theory we're all agreeing on. [Retrospec ruins everything, no surprise.] The sooner we get there, the better. And at this rate, I might be the first.

Hee, I'm sure! You've got everything ready to go, after all! [she says, perfectly willing to give him this-- after all, if he's first, she had a hand in getting him there!

But... well. She could have more of a hand. She leans an arm out the driver's side window, glancing over at him casually.] Hey, where did you keep the pictures, anyway? Are they somewhere that's easy to get to on your own? [She tries not to sound too eager to hear that they may not be.]

All very good points! --Shoot, I didn't even think about how quickly the ice cream will melt. It's not like I can get it into a freezer... [she rolls the can of beer down the aisle, craning her neck up to look all the way down towards the cashier.] So if you want a bite or two of the ice cream that you're paying for, I think I'll be able to spare some.

[Jake helps her. It would just be rude to force all the work on her!] Golly, I would love to! And likewise, you're free to partake of any of my sauce. I'm quite certain at this size, drinking all of it would be a foolhardy venture.

Haha, it's a deal! [Look at them rolling the beer can down the aisle, what an efficient team of tiny people!] Also, this might sound a little odd to bring up now, but I didn't know you could use 'sauce' that way! Is that common? [Listen, any opportunity to learn more English is one she's going to take.]

[This is easily one of the most alarming things that anyone has ever said to Tuuri.]

Don't say that! Please don't say that! [She's also lying here flat on the edge of the cup, but she extends one hand over to grip Mafuyu's-- slowly, because the last thing she needs is to jostle the cup when she does it.] I can swim!! Worst comes to worst, you can stay on the cup and I can swim us to safety! [This is a terrible idea, but it's important to sound confident when delivering it.] But we're going to get out of this! You just have to stay calm! Can you do that? Please?

[ Can she stay calm? Frankly, no. Mafuyu is very rarely calm, and this is honestly one of those moments where she should be allowed to freak out, because they're effectively stranded on a cup in the middle of a deep puddle until who knows when.

The hand on hers is a well-meaning gesture, but Mafuyu slaps her other hand over Tuuri's wrist, with the wild, panicked eyes of somebody who might throw Tuuri overboard upon hearing that she can swim. ]

Why didn't you do that to begin with?! If you knew how to swim, you could've just swam across and be gone by now instead of being stuck here with me!

[Eep, okay, her well-meaning gesture definitely did not go as planned, if the crazed way that Mafuyu grabs her is any indication.]

I mean, the water in the puddle is pretty gross, I was hoping to avoid jumping into it... [also, wait, more importantly--] And I'm not just going to jump off the cup and leave you stranded? Who would do that?

Haha, probably! But it's worth a shot, right?

[she hums something that may be the Indiana Jones theme, or maybe a random Western. it's out of key anyway.]

I bet we can do it! Iiiif we can actually lasso the latch. [that part is probably going to take a few tries.] But no time like the present, right?

Mmmhmm! I think... we can get up there and investigate what's going on.

[ So Sakura's gonna have the first go! She takes the lasso that she made, gives it a few twirls in her hand and throws it to the latch.

It falls embarrassingly short onto the ground. ]

No it's not! [she says automatically, even though she realizes that... yes, it is. When she puts it like that, it definitely is. Less confidently, she adds] Because we won't split up. And we won't run into a serial killer either, probably. The library isn't even haunted, or an old burial ground. I think.

Given how this city's been lately, I am not convinced we won't run into one.

[Pranking her friends is one thing, but the guilt (and little bit of fear) of pranking a nice, unsuspecting college professor is another. She nearly breaks down with an explanation anyway, but thankfully he's got the right idea.]

Oh, good, you're a Retrospectre. Yes, I'm sorry, that was for my bingo. Um, I have some tea, if you think it'd help? [She holds up a bottle of iced tea. It's the least she could do.]

['Retrospectre'? Is that how she calls the users? Although, at least she has a good reason behind her actions just like the other users. Besides, she did offer him some tea to wash out the salty taste in his mouth.]

[After he drinks a cup of iced tea from his cup, Augustine decides to ask some questions.]

Though, why did you pick me for that bingo activity?

[That sounded like an ending, right? Right!! Tuuri emphasizes this by aggressively jazz-handing, because that's how you end a musical performance properly!

Unfortunately, her grip on her phone is a little loose, and as she shimmies it goes skidding out of her hands across the floor. The song ends unceremoniously, as Tuuri hisses] Perkele!

[At least she didn't yell fuck in English in the middle of the mall.]
